[et_pb_section admin_label="section"][et_pb_row admin_label="row"][et_pb_column type="4_4"][et_pb_text admin_label="Text"] You guys, this post has been weighing on my mind for a few weeks. Every time I think about what I want to say, I end up in a puddle. Today my big kid turns 10. For those of you with older kids you’re probably laughing at me right now thinking this is only the beginning of random spurts of tears, but for me, it’s a big one. Ten. 10. TEN!!! Jesus, when did this happen? Wasn’t it just last year when we heard his cry for the first time? Or last month when he lost his first tooth? Or last week when he scored his first goal? Or yesterday when he had a tantrum?(Oh yeah…that was yesterday). Kidding aside, this child, this boy who has brought so much more joy and love into our lives than we could have ever imagined is double digits.
It’s a big deal.
What I want to say to my ten year old is this…you have brightened every day, you have brought laughter and tears. You have occupied a space in my heart that I had no idea existed. You are kind and compassionate. You are smart and funny. You are engaging and inquisitive (about certain subjects). You are talented and athletic. You are a dream of a big brother. You are sensitive and strong. You have friends, a lot of them, and you never play favorites. You are wise beyond your years. You amaze me with your maturity. You are a good kid, no you are an exceptional kid and I am so very, very proud of you.
Thank you for choosing me to be your Mom. And thank you for choosing this date to be your birthday…I’m honored to share it with you.
Happy 10th Birthday to my big guy, I love you beyond measure.
