[et_pb_section admin_label="section"][et_pb_row admin_label="row"][et_pb_column type="4_4"][et_pb_text admin_label="Text"] Happy Wednesday you guys! I've started and erased this post about 20 times since this morning. This is a tough one. Acceptance. My wish for today is for acceptance.

First, I think it's important to be accepting of yourself. As you know, I've been on this personal journey of trying to find my true calling career wise, and while I've ruled a lot of stuff out, I'm still trudging along trying to figure out what IT is. At first I was manic about it, like I had to have an answer IMMEDIATELY and if I didn't I was doing something wrong. Then I decided to chill out, do some research, a lot of reading, and some self introspection. What I've come to figure out is that I needed to accept a few things first.  My wants and needs are different, my priorities have changed and once I took that into consideration my whole outlook on this process shifted. I'm actually enjoying it and looking forward to what's to come. I'm accepting myself for who I am, no apologies, no excuses.

I also think it's important to accept the things you cannot change. You're not going to change someone else. Ever. So don't try. If you can't find reasons to appreciate the people or situations around you, then maybe it's time to look at them and make some decisions about how to proceed with them. Your relationships, friendships, jobs, etc. It can be a hard exercise but often times a cathartic one. And in the end you'll probably make the right choice.

The hardest thing for me these days is watching what's unfolding in our country and community. Acceptance of others is not something we're very good at and that perplexes me and makes me really sad. I mean, one of the first things we learn as children and teach our own children is to live by the Golden Rule...treat others the way you want to be treated. I can't for the life of me understand why this is so difficult for some people. And I can't for the life of me understand why it's escalated to violence in certain cases. We are killing each other over things that DO NOT MATTER. The color of someone's skin or the person someone loves or the religion they practice is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS and it should NOT be judged. Who cares? If it's not directly affecting you then it's not your issue. It should be so easy right? We should all be able to walk down the street and not be judged by how we look or what color we are or what we're wearing, etc....we should be accepted for all of those things that make us individuals, that make us unique.

My wish for us is to be more accepting of ourselves, of our personal relationships and of our community. It's simple really, or at least I think it is.
